Quinine S04 Indications, Dosage, Storage, Stability - Quinine
INDICATIONS
For the treatment of malaria as a supplement to other antimalarial drugs, e. g. with primaquine in relapsing vivax malaria, or the treatment of malaria due to strains of P. falciparum resistant to chloroquine and other antimalarial drugs.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For use as a malarial suppressant.
QUININE SULFATE TABLETS:
260 mg - 2 tablets 3 times per day for 7 days. Not more than 8 tablets per day.
QUININE SULFATE CAPSULES:
200 mg - 3 capsules 3 times per day for 7 days. Not more than 9 capsules per day.
325 mg - 2 capsules 3 times per day for 7 days. Not more than 6 capsules per day.
HOW SUPPLIED
Quinine Sulfate tablets are available as white, round tablets, debossed Z3001, containing 260 mg of Quinine Sulfate USP, packaged in bottles of 100, 250, 500 and 1000 tablets.
Quinine Sulfate capsules are available:
as clear capsules filled with white powder, imprinted 4171 and 200 mg, containing 200 mg of Quinine Sulfate USP, packaged in bottles of 100, 500 and 1000 capsules;
as clear capsules filled with white powder, imprinted 4172, containing 325 mg of Quinine Sulfate USP, packaged in bottles of 100, 500 and 1000 capsules.
PHARMACIST: Dispense in a tight container as defined in the USP. Use child-resistant closure.
Store at controlled room temperature 15°-30° C (59°-86° F).
